Located along the Coast of Light in the Vendée department, your tourist town is a French seaside resort with many interests. It opens its doors to you for an unprecedented discovery..

Aloa Vacances : Les Pirons Saint Gilles Croix De Vie

The maritime and natural heritage

The word seaside resort inevitably brings to mind the sea and the beach. Indeed, you will love the Aquarium the 7th continent in Talmont-St-Hilaire and the Sealand Aquarium in Noirmoutier-en-l’Ile. It’s an underwater journey to discover the wonders of the ocean floor : hundreds of marine species and the luminescence of the abyss. In addition, you will learn about the techniques used to harvest sea salt in Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez.

The town is the first French port to be certified as meeting European standards, with around fifty vessels. The port specialises in sardine and mackerel fishing. Do not miss Le Port La Vie, a marina. You can experience life in a different way with the “Passeport Escales” network, which offers you more than a hundred stopovers throughout Europe.

In addition, come and contemplate the natural beauty of your city : the flora of the dunes, the flora of the forest, the natural and animal parks, etc.

Historical sites

Your city has enormous historical monuments that you must visit if you want to complete your stay here. In fact, La Maison du Pêcheur (The Fisherman’s House) allows you to learn about the origins of fishing in this beautiful city. The Catholic religion has been strongly anchored in the habits of the inhabitants since the 9th century, which means that there is a significant religious heritage.

In addition, get your cameras ready to capture the magnificent views of the seaside architecture. These include the Josephine Tower (the oldest maritime construction), the Grosse Terre Lighthouse, the Villa Boisvinet, the Little Tower, etc.

Finally, come and examine the House of Writers of the Sea which is a museum relating the history of shipwrecks. Your museum town has its own traditional marsh habitat : La Bourrine Bois Juquaud. It is a house made of clay, whitewashed and thatched. In short, your metropolis is a unique destination in the world for an exceptional holiday. The various sites are open all year round with a rich and varied programme.
