The Charente Maritime department offers a wealth of local and tourist attractions. One of these wonders is the island of Ol\u00e9ron<\/strong>. Our campsite on the island has the advantage of being in a hybrid setting, combining the atmosphere of large urban centers with the calm of the seaside. The port of La Cotini\u00e8re<\/strong><\/h2>

Located in the commune of Saint-Pierre d’Ol\u00e9ron<\/strong>, La Cotini\u00e8re is a small town that owes its reputation above all to its famous port: the Port de la Cotini\u00e8re<\/strong>.\nIndeed, this port is the first attraction for all visiting holidaymakers. <\/p>

As the region’s leading fishing port by tonnage, the town’s appeal lies first and foremost in its rustic character, its setting and the friendliness of its people, who are driven by the desire to pass on their love of their region.<\/p>

With a fleet of around a hundred boats, the site brings together in one place all the activities associated with fishing and the daily lives of sailors: lighthouse, unloading of fish bins, auction sales, boat maintenance, net repair…<\/p>

In the recent past, it was still possible to mingle with sailors returning from sardine fishing, and to watch the sorting process on the quayside – a unique experience for photo enthusiasts.\nRecently, however, the landing quay has been closed to the public for health and safety reasons. <\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

With 95 different species of fish, the island’s waters abound with a rare variety of fish<\/strong> (sardines, sole, sea bass, langoustine…), one of the most prized of which is the scallop<\/strong>: the scallop from the island of Oleron is said to have a special flavor.<\/p>

Around this magnificent setting, a local tourist industry has developed (restaurants, caf\u00e9s).\nYou’ll be spoilt for choice. <\/p><\/div>
