La Faute-sur-Mer became a commune at the end of 1953, when it was a rural part of the commune of La Tranche. La Faute-sur-Mer<\/strong> is a French town in the Vend\u00e9e department in the Pays de la Loire region.\nIt is located in central-western France.\nLa Faute-sur-Mer is a small stretch of coastal land in southern Vend\u00e9e.\nWith around 1,000 inhabitants, the town’s population density is steadily declining.\nIt covers an area of 726 hectares. <\/p><\/div>

Where does the name La Faute<\/strong> come from?<\/h2>

There are various accounts of the origins of the name La Faute.\nWhether these stories are based on fact or legend is anyone’s guess.\nHere are a few that may shed some light on the origins of the name La Faute: <\/p>

– According to one account, the Romans (sailors) called this area “les Pictons P\u00f4s”.\nThe Gauls, in using this expression, pronounced the word “P\u00f4s”, which was then distorted into “F\u00f4s”.\nOver time, this expression was transformed into “Faute”, hence the name of the town;
