The chapel’s architecture: its main asset<\/h2>

The Brou\u00ebl<\/strong> chapel has a beautiful granite facade.\nIt became a parish grouping the hamlets of Brou\u00ebl<\/strong> and Billion from the French Revolution to the present day.\nThe chapel was dedicated to Notre Dame de Bon Secours.\nIt features two powerful buttresses containing twin basket-handle doors.\nThe doorway is surmounted by an extraordinary Gothic arch, embellished with hooks. <\/p>

The interior of the chapel features a number of especially remarkable statues that are linked to the village of Brou\u00ebl.\nThese are the 16th-century statue of the Virgin Mary and the statue of St. Isidore.\nThe latter is the oldest in the chapel and represents the patron saint of ploughmen and farmers.\nThe two stained-glass windows beside the chapel represent, respectively, the Billion (the earth) and the Brou\u00ebl (the sea).\nLa chapelle des mille secours is Brou\u00ebl’s noblest seigneury. <\/p><\/div><\/div>

History of the Chapel of a Thousand Helpers in Brou\u00ebl<\/h2>

The Chapelle des mille secours <\/strong>was built in the 16th century, around 1580.\nIt is situated on a hilltop between the salt marshes and the old sand port<\/strong>.\nIts west facade was listed as a historic monument on May 14, 1925.\nA cross was erected next to the chapel in 1989. <\/p>
